College Credits

The following schools have agreed to recognize our academic program for college credits.  They should be contacted directly for all information regarding transfer credit and requirements.

Touro College-- Israel Option

Stern College for Women  -- Joint Israel Program

Ann M. Blitstein Teachers Institute, Hebrew Theological College, Skokie, Illinois

Michigan Jewish Institute

Other universities have accepted our transcript. Please contact your university to ascertain their policies and requirements.

Transcripts are issued at the conclusion of the academic year after all financial obligations have been satisfied.  In the event that a certified transcript becomes necessary at a future date, application may be made to our Jerusalem office.  There is a $10 fee for each additional transcript.

Application Process

October - Application forms are distributed to high schools.

November - Rabbi Segal comes to visit schools to present Afikei Torah. You will have the opportunity to meet with him and ask any questions you may have.

December -Applications must reach our New York office by December 1st. Rabbi Segal returns to interview.  He spends 20 - 30 minutes getting to know you and learning Chumash with you to assess your skill level to see where you would best fit in to Afikei Torah.

February -- Final acceptances are sent out.  You send in your deposit to secure your place at Afikei Torah for the coming year.  Once you have submitted your deposit you receive an information package with everything you need to know to prepare you for your year at Afikei Torah.

Chessed

On Thursdays all of our students participate in a wide variety of Chessed projects.  Mrs. Julie Sklar, our Chessed coordinator is around with a warm smile and a list of different options for the girls to choose from to best suit each girl's personality and capabilities.  Options include:

  1. Mother's helper - helping a busy mother with the children or small tasks around the house.
  2. Yad Eliezer - packaging groceries for distribution to needy families.
  3. Ezer Mitzion - preparing and distributing food to families of hospitalized patients.
  4. Gan Harmony - assisting in an early childhood center which integrates special needs children.
  5. Neve Simcha - Visiting an old age home and adding joy to the residents' lives with a smile and listening ear or singing songs when the Chagim approach
